Compose Melodic Rock Track

Job ID: 40305167

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I already have the full set of lyrics and now need a musician-producer who can shape them into a melodic, emotionally rich rock song. The track should sit comfortably in the rock genre yet lean on expressive harmonies rather than sheer heaviness.

Two instruments are non-negotiable: electric guitar for the main drive and colour, and piano for the softer, lyrical passages. Feel free to layer bass, drums, or even strings if they help lift the chorus, but the guitar-piano core must stay front and centre.

Here’s what I’ll be looking for on delivery:
I wrote a novel Called running backwards.
In the book, The song was written by a young female singer who spent time in Afghanistan on a USO tour as a CELEBRITY SINGER . She fell crazy in love with her bodyguard, who was a YOUNG green beret. This green beret covered her body with his when they were shelled. He caught non- life threatening shrapnel in his body. On the flight back to the states, and filled with massive emotion she wrote this song.
With an “ always remember us this way “kind of vibe. Powerful at the end.

This is HIS memory of it

He tried to block his mind from going where it wanted to go, but it went there anyway. It was back in Afghanistan. They were walking to the plane that would take her back to America, side by side. He desperately wanted to reach out and take her hand, but he resisted. She looked amazing, dressed in camo cargo shorts that rode low on her hips, with a white crop top and a floppy boonie hat and a matching OD green backpack. She was already running late for her “freedom flight” back to the states. She was doing her best to try and make him smile but he couldn’t, or wouldn’t. She was leaving and that was that. The rest of the USO celebrities were already on board the giant C-17 aircraft, but she was still standing in front of him, trying to make him smile.
The load master was getting impatient, motioning for her to get on board. He still wouldn’t smile. He couldn’t hold himself back if he allowed any emotion at all. Then, she started walking slowly to the plane. When she stepped up on the cargo ramp, she turned, once again and gave him a dazzling smile. He remained stoic,
“Jimmy, why are you making this so hard?” she yelled over the noise of the engines.
“How is it so easy for you to leave?” he finally yelled back.
Suddenly she shucked her backpack to the ground and ran as fast as she could back to him and jumped in his arms from ten feet away. She kissed him… with passion like he’d never felt before. He tried to not kiss her back, but then began to give as good as he got. “Wow.” he said to Buck, while patting him on the neck. Shaking his head and trying to remove the grin off his face as the memory continued.
She wrapped her legs around his waist, and just for a moment, time stood still, in a war zone, halfway around the world. He chuckled out loud. The load master was beginning to get pissed off. She finally broke off the kiss and he stood her back on her own two feet. She was so beautiful.
Her mom glowered from the plane
“I’ll call you every day.” She yelled as the afghan sun was setting behind her, the unburned jet fuel vapors shimmered around her, rising off the hot pavement.
“You can’t.” he yelled back. “This is a war zone.”
“Okay, fine.” She yelled. “Then I’ll write to you every day.” She ran back toward the airplane, picked up her backpack and mouthed the words “I love you.” while making a heart with her hands. He finally mouthed the words back, with a super goofy grin on his face. He smiled at the memory, but it quickly faded as he swallowed hard again. But she never did write. Not once.

I like the lyrics I have written, but I am not opposed to modifying them for something that works better for the emotion I’m looking for. I’m not a song writer, just an author. I don’t really know what I’m doing when it comes to lyrics. I’m totally out of my depth but this just came to me. It’s called “walking in the clouds”

Verse 1
Sirens in the distance, dust in the air
Heart beatin’ so loud I could feel every prayer
World spinnin’ sideways, nowhere to run
Then you took my hand and the noise came undone
I remember the thunder, the shouting, the ground
But somehow the chaos just faded to sound
Your voice cut through it, steady and low
And suddenly fear was the first thing to go

Pre-Chorus
I should’ve been shaking, breaking apart
But you wrapped the calm right around my heart

Chorus
I was walkin’ in the clouds when you held me close
High above the storm where the wild wind blows
Bullets and shadows couldn’t reach me somehow
The whole world was falling but I was safe right now
Every breath you gave me pulled me above the ground
Didn’t hear the danger, didn’t hear a sound
I don’t know how you do what you do
But when I’m with you…no
I’m walkin’ in the clouds

Verse 2
Smoke in the daylight, fire in the sky
Terror all around me but you never asked why
You just stood between me and everything wild
Like the world couldn’t touch me — like I was a child
Your heartbeat steady against my cheek
Strong where I was fragile, calm where I was weak
Time slowed down in the palm of your hand
And somehow I knew you would always stand

Pre-Chorus
I should remember the fear I felt then
But all I remember… is where you were standin’

I don’t know how you do what you do
But when I’m with you…
I’m walkin’ in the clouds

Bridge
Maybe heaven ain’t a place above
Maybe it’s the shelter of your love
Maybe courage ain’t somethin’ I found
Maybe it’s just you… standin’ your ground
And if the sky comes crashing down tonight
I won’t be afraid of the fight
‘Cause wherever you are is where I’ll be
Fear can’t live where you hold me

Final Chorus (Lifted / Emotional)
I’m still walkin’ in the clouds when you hold me close
High above the storm where the wild wind blows
World can keep raging, breaking apart
But your arms are a sky wrapped around my heart
Every breath you give me lifts me higher now
I don’t even remember how to come back down
I don’t know what tomorrow will do
But when I’m with you…
No fear… no doubt…
Just walkin’ in the clouds

• A mixed stereo demo (WAV or high-quality MP3)
• Individual stems for vocals, electric guitar, piano, and any additional parts you add
• A simple chord chart or lead sheet so I can rehearse with a live band later

If you’re comfortable writing a catchy hook, building dynamic sections that ebb and swell with the words, and balancing rock grit with genuine emotion, I’d love to hear a snippet of your past work in a similar style.
