Audio Setup for Nautical Show
Budget: £18 – £36 GBP
I’m launching a weekly two-hour music and talk programme for retired seafarers and need an experienced audio engineer to get the technical side absolutely ship-shape before we cast off. The broadcast will go out via Mixcloud Pro Live and will also feed a YouTube channel. Guests will join me from both my New Milton studio and remotely from ports around the world, and the show will blend live performances with pre-recorded tracks.
What I need from you
• Assess my current microphones, interface, mixer, monitors and network hardware, then specify any tweaks or additions that will guarantee clean, reliable audio for voice and music.
• Configure the full signal chain—including remote-caller routing, latency management, mix-minus setup and recording backup—so that levels, EQ and compression are locked in for broadcast.
• Optimise Mixcloud Pro and OBS (or your preferred encoder) to ensure stable HD streaming, correct metadata and copyright-safe loudness.
• Give me hands-on training so I can operate the rig solo once we’re live each week, covering sound-check procedure, guest onboarding, monitoring and fault-finding.
Acceptance criteria
1. A working template session that handles one local mic, one local stereo music source and up to three remote guest feeds without clipping or feedback.
2. Consistent output at broadcast-ready LUFS with no audible artefacts during a 30-minute test stream.
3. A written quick-start guide I can follow to reproduce the setup for every episode.
Ideally you’ll be available for a day (onsite or via video) to complete the setup and a follow-up hour after the first live show. If you’re as comfortable around mixers and stream keys as I once was around a ship’s bridge, I’d love to work with you.
