Music Studio Gear Setup Assistance

Job ID: 39887149

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I’ve just moved into a new room and need an experienced studio tech to get my recording chain fully wired, tested, and humming quietly. The core gear on the bench includes audio interfaces, several MIDI controllers, patchbays, and a couple of standalone mic preamps.

Your job is to handle the physical side—rack-mounting where needed, running balanced and MIDI cabling, normalising the patchbay, eliminating any hum or ground-loop issues, and confirming every input and output passes clean signal. I also need eyes on an existing layout that isn’t behaving, so part of the session will involve troubleshooting and correcting whatever’s causing intermittent drop-outs.

Deliverables:
• All interfaces, preamps, and controllers securely connected, labelled, and signal-tested
• Patchbay normalised according to the diagram we agree on
• Any wiring faults or noise sources identified and fixed
• A simple signal-flow diagram (PDF or photo of a scribble is fine) so I can trace connections later

I’m available most evenings; let me know your preferred time and any tools you’d like me to have ready (test mic, multimeter, extra TRS snakes, etc.). If you have a proven track record setting up recording studios, especially with patchbays and interface integration, I’d love to get this wrapped up in a single visit.
