Description:
We are looking for an experienced Asterisk ARI (Asterisk REST Interface) developer to help us troubleshoot and fix a performance issue on our production Asterisk server.
The Problem:
We are running a telephony platform using Asterisk with custom logic built on ARI. The system is functioning well overall, but we are experiencing significant delay in response to DTMF inputs (key presses) during calls. For example, when a caller presses a key, the system reacts a second or more later.
We have verified that:
The delay is not due to general server performance or bandwidth.
Other Asterisk-based systems on similar infrastructure respond instantly.
The issue is specific to this server or configuration.
Requirements:
Strong expertise in Asterisk and ARI programming (Python preferred)
Experience analyzing real-time telephony performance issues
Ability to profile, debug, and optimize ARI applications
Knowledge of DTMF handling, pjsip, playback queue management, and server tuning
Optional but helpful:
Experience with async/event-driven systems
Familiarity with Twilio SIP trunking, Google TTS/STT, or AWS EC2
Deliverables:
Diagnose the root cause of the delay
Implement or suggest effective fixes
Provide a brief summary of findings and recommendations
This is a paid freelance project, with potential for future collaboration if needed.
