AI-Powered Passport/Visa Photo Converter App

Job ID: 39369228

Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD

Project Title:
Build an AI-Powered Web, iOS & Android App to Convert Any Photo into Passport/Visa-Compliant Headshots

Overview
SnapVisa.app is a cross-platform (Web, iOS, Android) application that allows users to upload any casual photo and automatically transform it into a passport/visa/ID-compliant headshot using AI. The app handles face centering, pose correction, background replacement, and formatting according to official biometric photo rules (ICAO and country-specific standards).

What We Need
We’re looking for a small team or experienced full-stack freelancer to:
- Build a complete MVP (see feature chart below)
- Integrate AI APIs for image processing (face detection, background removal, formatting)
- Deliver a unified app experience across Web, iOS, and Android

Key Features (MVP Scope)
1. Upload Interface: Users can upload any casual/selfie photo from phone or desktop
2. Face Detection & Landmarking: Use AI API (Face++ / Vision / OpenCV) to detect face + orientation
3. Pose Correction & Face Alignment: AI rotates, centers, and scales the face to fit biometric standards
4. Background Removal + Formatting: App automatically removes background and applies correct background color (white, gray, blue, etc.) depending on the selected photo type and country. Final image can be exported in digital format or in print-ready layout on common photo paper sizes (4x6, A4, etc.)
5. Image Enhancement: Normalize brightness, contrast, and sharpness for print-quality
6. Country Format Selection: User selects photo type (e.g., “US Visa”, “Japan Passport”) to auto-apply correct size/template
7. Export Download: Final export in JPG or PNG, 300 DPI, ICAO-compliant
8. Account & Login: Users can create accounts using Google, Apple, or email. Photos are saved in their profile for access across devices
9. Biometric Login: Enable face/fingerprint login on mobile devices
10. Multi-Platform App: App must be available as responsive web app, iOS app, and Android app

User Interaction Flow (Step-by-Step)
1. User opens SnapVisa on Web, iOS, or Android
2. Signs in using Google, Apple ID, or email (biometric login optional)
3. Uploads or captures a photo (casual/selfie/portrait)
4. Selects desired photo type (e.g., US Passport, Japan Visa)
5. AI detects and aligns the face automatically
6. Background is removed and replaced according to the country's standard
7. Lighting and framing are corrected to meet biometric guidelines
8. Preview is shown; user can download digital file or select print format
9. Photo is saved to user account and accessible on all logged-in devices
10. Payment (if required) is processed for download or print layout

Tech Stack (Preferred)

Frontend: Flutter (for mobile and web) OR React + React Native
Backend: Node.js (Express) or Python (FastAPI)
AI/ML APIs: Face++ / AWS Rekognition / Google Vision API, Remove.bg API or open-source U-2-Net
Image Engine: OpenCV / Mediapipe (for face alignment and cropping)
Database: Firebase (Firestore) or PostgreSQL
Storage: Firebase Storage or AWS S3
Hosting: Firebase, Vercel, or Render
Payments: Stripe, PayPal, or Crypto
Authentication: Firebase Auth or Auth0 (Google, Apple, biometric login support)

MVP Milestones & Timeline (10 Weeks)
1. Planning: Wireframes, UI flow, API stack selection – 1 week
2. Frontend Dev: Upload UI, preview UI, responsive layout – 2 weeks
3. Backend Dev: API integration (face, background, format logic) – 3 weeks
4. Image Pipeline: Pose correction, cropping logic, export builder – 2 weeks
5. Integration: Connect frontend/backend, finalize UX – 1 week
6. QA Testing: Test edge cases, low-light photos, multi-device flow – 1 week

Please Include:

- Relevant past projects (AI photo tools, mobile apps, or OpenCV)
- Proposed tech stack or tools you're most comfortable with
- Breakdown of your approach to face alignment and template formatting
- Estimated hours per week and delivery timeline
- Whether you work solo or with a team

Bonus If You Have:

- Experience with biometric photo standards (ICAO, e-passport, etc.)
- Background in facial landmark detection or photo editing apps
- Capability to scale into full product beyond MVP
