Car Colour Services makes colours by using Paint Mixing machines, this is done manually by taking a set of 'tinters' and putting the correct amount in to make the correct colour for your car. For example Ford Moondust Silver may have 100g of silver, 5g of black and 3g of red.
The tinters are very specific, not just red, black, blue.
Once we finish making the colour, we will check the colour to the car. The colour may not match. Therefore we manually 'tint' the colour to make it match better.
For example, we make the Ford Moondust Silver and found it is too dark. Therefore we may add more silver in order to make the colour lighter.
Each Paint Mixing scheme has a 'tinting guide'
This guide lists all the tinters and their characteristics, the guide also shows you what to with these tinters.
For example if you have a red and need to make it more blue, add tinter M1320.
We are looking to see if we can take one of the tinting guides and input the data/information into a program where it can learn how to tint colours.
Then, when we are tinting colours, the program can help us make the correct decisions.
