Writing Forum Article – Biotechnology and 3D printing
Forum articles are short pieces that aim to highlight for a very broad audience a significant recent development in the field or to raise awareness about a topic of general interest. Possible topics can include future outlook essays that serve to introduce or encourage research in a new field, reflections and new insights on long-standing questions and debates, and general analyses of common scientific practices or tools used in a field. Forum articles should not include unpublished data, simulations, or meta-analyses. Although subjective, a Forum article should not be used to dwell excessively on the author's own research or to excessively criticize the research of others, except where criticism is constructive. The introduction of hypothesis and models is encouraged, and the articles should be written with a very personal perspective, but it is important to mention other viewpoints where they exist to place the work discussed in a context for the nonspecialist reader. Our audience ranges from students to senior scientists, so articles must be accessible to a wide readership. Please avoid jargon, but do not oversimplify: be accurate and precise throughout.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in plain English
- Plagiarism less than 8% (Will be checked)
Abstract (50 words)
• Please provide a short teaser to set the scene and introduce the main take home-message of the article.
• The limit of 50 words is strict.
• The abstract should not cite any references.
Length (1200 words, 12 references, 2 extra elements)
• The word limit (1200 words) does not include text in the abstract, figure legends, tables, text boxes, or references.
• The number of references is strictly limited to 12.
• Forum pieces can contain two additional elements (figures, tables, text boxes).
-- Target Journal – will be informed later
- Format – Based target journal.
