Editor - Supervisor for a team of 6 writers We are an eminent travel and photography company looking for a blog manager and editor to be responsible for the whole operations of the blog and supervision of the team of writers
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Our blog is multilingual in English and Spanish. The candidates need to be fluent in both languages since they will need to recruit and manage a team of writers in both languages.
We are looking for a passionate blog manager with experience in content management, SEO, writing, editing, and team management with analytic skills, goal-oriented and detail-oriented.
The main functions to cover in this role are:
Supervising staff - Oversee the work of the writers. This includes setting productivity goals for each person, setting deadlines, and tracking performance. Provide feedback to writers and other creatives by checking their work and suggesting ways to improve performance and meet the blog's standards.
Editing and proofreading articles - Proofreading and editing writers' work. This includes checking the SEO of the article (list of keywords, search intent, and structure). Also, checking that the articles are free of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and contextual errors in both Spanish and English. It also involves fact-checking and verifying the accuracy of figures, names, and locations mentioned in pieces. Editing also involves ensuring that writers adhere to the tone of voice, style guide, and word count for each piece and cover all the topics outlined in the content brief. If a writer's work is lacking in some areas, the editor can send the piece back to them for revision and set a new submission deadline or make the modifications himself/herself. For this reason, the editor should be the best of our writers before he/she can perform his/her duties as blog manager/editor.
Set publication standards and protocols - Make sure all articles in the blog meet the same standards in quality, voice and tone. Create style guides and protocols and review the writers are following during the writing process.
Hiring - Hire writers and other professionals needed for the blog. This can include writing job descriptions, posting the roles, doing the screening and interviewing the candidates to evaluate if they're suitable for the blog's requirements.
Organizing meetings - Organise weekly check-in meetings with writers to track performance and resolve questions, etc. Schedule monthly meetings to discuss the previous month's results in terms of ranking, visits, revenue, etc.
Reporting - Generate reports to track affiliate revenue per program, keyword ranking, staff performance, and others. Excellent knowledge of Excel is mandatory for this role.
To be able to supervise the writers' performance, a very advanced level of these skills are required:
SEO - Keyword research, Competitor analysis, Post structure, Topic research
Writing - Fact-checking, Copywriting skills
Post Layout - WordPress layout, Attention to detail, the painstaking layout of new articles
Writing experience is a must.
This is a long-term role and will require a full-time commitment after the initial training period.
