Talking about the results of personality tests

Sometimes we can forget that personality tests like this are just a snapshot of who we are – and of the noise affecting us in that moment – when we answer the questions. We can be tempted to say things like “I am this” or “I am that”. We might even use this language to label ourselves.

Advocate for yourself. Use language that creates distance between you and the test results. When you reflect on your results, make it clear to yourself and your audience that these descriptions are the quiz’s observations of you. This information has a source, so name it. We’ve given you some examples below.

Instead of …

“I’m hard-working.”
