Qualifications
We are seeking graduate students, Ph.D. candidates, doctoral researchers, and early-career professionals with demonstrated experience or academic expertise in areas related to sexual assault, gender-based violence, public policy, criminal justice, public health, law, psychology, sociology, or related disciplines.
Candidates should possess strong research, reporting, and analytical skills, with the ability to identify emerging issues, monitor current events, review academic literature, public records, and policy developments, and produce original, evidence-based news reports.
Candidates should be able to independently research and write two original news articles per week. Articles must be independently researched and written, appropriately sourced, and must not be copied, paraphrased, or rewritten from existing news publications. Original reporting, synthesis, interviews, and analysis are strongly encouraged.
Candidates should possess excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal, social, political, and psychological issues in a clear, engaging, and accessible manner.
Preference will be given to applicants with academic or professional backgrounds in one or more of the following fields:
- Law
- Political Science
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Public Health
- Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
- Criminology
- Social Work
- Public Policy
- Medicine or Nursing (particularly women's health and sexual health)
Candidates should demonstrate sound ethical judgment, respect for confidentiality, and a trauma-informed approach when reporting on issues involving survivors of sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and vulnerable populations.
Candidates should possess strong interviewing, fact-checking, source verification, and investigative research skills. Previous experience writing for newspapers, magazines, nonprofit organizations, research institutes, or digital publications is highly desirable.
Candidates should be comfortable working remotely, managing deadlines independently, and collaborating with editors and researchers.
Applicants must be able to provide writing samples, academic work, or previously published articles demonstrating their ability to conduct original research and produce high-quality written work.
Successful contributors may be invited to continue writing for Informing S.A. on a long-term basis based on the quality, originality, reliability, and consistency of their work.
Role Description
Contributors will be expected to write **one original feature article per week** of approximately **2,000 words**.
Articles may cover a wide range of topics related to Informing S.A.'s mission, including **current news, historical analysis, research, law, public policy, psychology, sociology, public health, sexual assault, healthy relationships, and social justice**. Contributors are encouraged to choose and develop their own topic each week, provided it aligns with the organization's editorial standards and mission.
All articles must be **original works** and must not be copied, republished, or substantially derived from another publication.
Completed articles must be submitted **by Friday at 11:59 p.m. EST** each week via email to the Informing S.A. editorial team.
