*Before the age of machine industries,silk and cotton were in greatest demand in international markets and that to the silks and cottons which is produce by India were having the finest quality and dominated over the International markets.But also its having some disadvantages because we can complete the trade by only by exporting it,But India caused a lot of problem to export the goods because we should cross deserts and mountains to export due to insufficent technology we can't compete the trade fully and this resulted in decreas in GDP of india and from this some of the workers quit the job due to regular salary.
* To over come this problem India chossed trade through sea ways through the main pre - colonial ports which are
*Surat on the Gujarat coast connected India to the Gulf and Red sea ports
*Masulipatanam on the Coramandal coast
*Hoogly in Bengal had trade links with south-east Asian ports,
And some of the merchants and Bankers are also helped India to grade by sea ways by Network of export, Finacing Production, Carrying goods and supplying exporters. Supply merchants linked the port towns to inland regions and controlled the network of trade.
* By the 1750's the network, controlled by Indian merchants, was breaking down now European companies gradually gained power by securing a variety of concessions from local courts then the Monopoly rights to trade. This resulted in decline of the ports of surat and hoogly which local merchants and operated Exports from this ports fell dramatically now the local bankers went bankrupt and by last years of 17 century the GDP as decreases in Surat by 16 million to 3 million by 1740's
* while Surat and Hoogly decayed, Bombay and Calcutta grew. This shift from the old ports to new ones was an indicator of the growth of colonial power. Trade through the new ports came to be controlled by European companies and was carried in European ships. While many of the old trading house collapsed.
