Government Grant Writer for Community Development

Job ID: 39680400

Budget: $25 – $50 USD

I'm seeking an experienced grant writer to help secure a government grant(s) aimed at community development. The grant will help us obtain funding for infrastructure improvement in already purchased space and then develop and deploy a collection of social entrepreneurship initiatives that directly benefit the community.

The building we seek to renovate and then put into service as a catalyst for community development is located in Reading, PA. Reading is one of the most challenged cities in the US, measured by social determinants of health. The city's sustained poverty rate in mid to high 30s % is one notable challenge. The building, located in the center of Reading, contains about 15 K square feet and has an adjoining courtyard. Our vision is to promote health by improving nutrition (healthy cafe & education), developing workforce skills, providing event space, developing entrepreneurship skills, providing skills necessary to preserve a democracy (critical thinking and reason, civil discourse, problem solving, how to learn, researching, win-win negotiating, etc.) We plan to develop a collection of for-profit and not for profit revenue streams, although heavy emphasis will be placed on helping social service agencies find ways to exchange real economic benefits with other agencies. This will help bring sustainability to community development efforts.

Key Requirements:
- Expertise in government grant applications
- Strong background in community development projects
- Proven success in securing funding for infrastructure and social entrepreneurship

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Excellent researching, writing and communication skills
- Ability to articulate project goals and community impact
- Experience with budget planning and project management

Please share your relevant experience and any successful grants you've secured.
