The world's attention to environmental issues has begun to become a major concern, because the development that continues to be carried out in countries around the world has a lot of impact on the surrounding environment.
Then a concept began to emerge with the name sustainable development, which is a step to be able to align, integrate, and equalize aspects of the environment, economy, and socio-culture, as well as to meet current and future welfare. Sustainable development has a normative nature and has principles in it. This principle is called the Three Pillars of Sustainability (The Three E's of Sustainability) which consists of economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social equality (equity). The sustainability of the economic system must be able to produce goods and services that meet basic needs that will support economic growth, but must be integrated with the existence of an environmental ecosystem as a supporting system that also functions as a network of life. The sustainability of the environmental system must be able to maintain resources stably, avoid exploitation or keep the environment from losing its main function, use artificial resources to replace non-renewable resources.
The sustainability of the social system must be achieved with equity or equality including in the fields of health and education, gender equality, political accountability, and community participation, and trade. With the integration of these three pillars, it can be a major step for a country towards sustainable development.
