Blog designer needed to create structure and layout for personal blog
Budget: £1,500 – £3,000 GBP
This blog is for my general use, but is primarily a collection of essays about a variety of subjects. There will be photos, but not with every post. There will often be the need to embed images in the posts and also - importantly - there will be blog posts that are only photos or a series of photos.
The plan is for the blog to evolve slowly, with the *possible* addition of videos later and I am also interested in developing a mechanism where readers are able to buy extended essays and articles as pdfs or e-pubs.
I would like there to be several 'strands' of the blog available from the home page, as some essays and articles will be about one subject and others about a different category altogether. I need the ability to enter post dates easily because some content goes back to the 1990s and I would like to be able to 'retro-post' these.
The intention is for the design to be simple and elegant - the 'less is more approach - and it will not need to use adverts.
Plan is for me to manage ongoing minor maintenance and then return for major updates and changes as/if needed. My interest is in writing and content, not in developing and managing HTML etc! I do not need any content written.
I'm hoping to get the blog up and running by late June. I'm not going to jump automatically for the lowest quote, nor for someone hidden behind a corporate screen: there has to be a genuine understanding of what I am trying (with you) to create . I am also reinvigorating an existing business in 2023/2024 and expect to set up two websites (neither of them blog-based) and am hopeful that I can develop a rapport with a designer/developer to set up and manage the development of these as well.
I would like to agree a fixed price for the initial design, set up and launch but recognise that this may be a 'piece of string' so obviously open to discussion on hourly rates to ensure management of any scope creep.
