Maryland Impressionistic Portrait Commission
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I’m looking for a talented portrait artist based in Maryland (or able to travel here) to create a large‐scale, impressionistic painting of my wife exactly similar in style and theme to the attached photo.
The finished piece should measure larger than 48 x 72 inches on stretched canvas and convey the vibrant, expressive brushwork typical of Impressionism while still capturing a strong likeness.
Scope of work
• Meet in person or over a high-resolution video call to discuss the sitter’s personality, wardrobe, and preferred setting.
• Provide one or two quick concept sketches and a loose color study so I can choose the direction before paint hits the final surface.
• Paint the portrait in the medium you feel best suits the style—oil, watercolor, or acrylic—using archival-quality materials on a sturdy canvas or panel ready to hang.
• Share at least two progress photos for feedback, allowing minor adjustments to color, lighting, or background.
• Deliver the finished, varnished piece safely packaged, with care instructions included.
What I’ll supply
Reference photos, a brief written profile of the sitter, and timely feedback at every milestone.
Ideal artist
You have a strong impressionistic portfolio, experience working on large canvases, and can meet deadlines while communicating clearly. Familiarity with proper sealing, varnishing, and shipping or local delivery is essential.
