Illustrate Neurodiversity Kids’ Picture Book

Job ID: 40455771

Budget: $30 – $250 AUD

I have a finished manuscript that celebrates a classroom of neurodivergent children and shows how each child plays and learns in their own unique way. What I need now is a talented illustrator who can turn those words into warm, engaging visuals that speak directly to 4- to 6-year-olds.

The overall look I’m after is simple and clean. Think clear shapes, soft lines, a gentle colour palette and plenty of white space so young readers can focus on the characters’ expressions and actions. The children themselves should appear in a friendly, cartoon-like style—recognisably human, yet playful enough to feel light and inviting.

Key things I’d love from you
• A cover and interior spreads that flow with the text (final page count to be confirmed together). Approx 24
• High-resolution, print-ready files plus web versions for marketing.
• A consistent character sheet so each child’s design remains stable from page to page.
• Room for feedback rounds; I’d like to collaborate closely to ensure the illustrations stay true to the story’s inclusive spirit.

If you have experience illustrating picture books, especially ones that tackle diversity or classroom settings, I’d love to see your portfolio. Let’s make this story come alive for every child who opens the book.
