- The structure of supply chain, which incorporates suppliers (minimum 1), manufacturers (minimum 1), distribution centres (minimum 2), retailers
(minimum 2), and one return point on remanufacture should be clearly stated.
- For this case study any supply chain of your choice (e.g. manufacturing industry such as paper/books, packaging, furniture, automotive, electric appliances, or electronic devices etc.) can be considered.
- Where a full case study, or parts of it, is being compiled from published secondary material, you are required to reference this appropriately using the APA7th referencing style.
Task 1: The Case Study
Describe the case study you have developed in detail. Clearly detail the supply chain structure that is the focus of this case study and is to be investigated.
Task 2. Solution Approach
You are required to solve some of the problems (at operational level) being faced by the case study, which are identified in Task 1. In this regard, two techniques are required: namely simulation and linear programming. The selected techniques must make use of ARENA discrete event simulation, and Excel Solver. For both techniques, you need to collect data from a variety of sources including research papers, books, business magazines, authentic websites, case studies and assume the data (logically) where appropriate.
Task 3. Presenting Results
Critically analyse the proposed models and discuss the results obtained. Present your conclusions and give recommendations for the future research.
