Budget: €250 – €750 EUR

Looking for freelancer: DC power monitoring & display system (ESP32 and/or Raspberry Pi + Nextion + 10” screen)

Project Description:
I am looking for a freelancer to design and build a custom DC current/voltage monitoring system for an educational energy bike station. The system should be based on ESP32 (and optionally Raspberry Pi, especially for display purposes), with:
• a large screen (minimum 10”) for clear, real-time parameter display, and
• a Nextion touchscreen used exclusively for setting game modes and configuration.

Project Background:

The system is part of an interactive educational board powered by a bicycle dynamo. Users pedal to generate electricity, which powers various physical loads such as:
• LED bulbs
• Small DC motor
• Speaker
• Other simple DC components

The goal is to visualize how energy is produced and consumed in real time and offer game-like modes for user engagement.

Electrical Parameters:
• DC Generator (bike-powered):
• Voltage: up to 60V (no load)
• Maximum power: ~500W
• Loads: variable physical loads connected dynamically

System Requirements:
• Measurement of:
• Voltage (V)
• Current (A)
• Instantaneous power (W)
• Total energy (Wh)
• Operation time (hh:mm:ss)
• Game Modes (selectable via Nextion touchscreen):
1. Time-based mode – the game runs for a predefined number of seconds.
2. Energy-based mode – the game ends when a specific amount of energy (Wh) has been generated.
3. Free mode – no limit on time or energy; manual stop.

Hardware Overview:
• ESP32 as the main controller for measurements and logic
• Nextion touchscreen (for input only – game mode selection, start/stop, reset)
• Separate 10”+ display for real-time data visualization:
• Could be driven by Raspberry Pi (if needed for GUI/display ease)
• Or integrated via other display interfaces (HDMI, SPI, etc.)
• Clear, attractive GUI with large digits and possible progress bars (e.g., energy progress)

Deliverables:
• Full electrical schematic (including measurement components: shunt resistor, voltage dividers, protection)
• Complete source code:
• ESP32 firmware (data collection, logic, communication)
• Nextion UI (.HMI project file)
• Display GUI (Raspberry Pi app, Python/Node/Qt etc. if applicable)
• System documentation and user manual

Optional / Preferred Skills:
• Experience with ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and Nextion
• Solid understanding of DC measurement and load behavior
• Ability to design clear and user-friendly graphical interfaces
• Suggestions on component choices and display technology
• Reliability and clear communication

Budget & Timeline:

Negotiable – please include:
• Estimated budget
• Approximate delivery time
• Portfolio or links to similar projects (if available)
