arduino engineer for linear actuator on table

I need to create a small 6"x6" metal table that moves up to a set position ( the position must be adjustable) when one button is pressed. I then need it to move down to a second position(the second position will always be all the way down but the speed at which the table moves down needs to be adjustable) when a second button is pressed.
