Peak detection arduino sensor

Processing of analogue signal received from arduino sensor. Laser sensor is attached on a wagon which moves back and forth on rails and measures the distance from a point. Wagon moves in different distance every time and the program must have peak detection to measure how many times the wagon goes back and forth regardless the distance.
