ESP32 Firmware Developer for Auto-Stabilized Weight Capture
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We’re developing a precision weight-measuring device using a foil strain gauge, HX711 amplifier, and ESP32. The goal is to automatically detect and capture weight when stable, and transmit the value over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to a mobile app (iOS + Android compatible).
This is a firmware-only project. We cannot provide physical hardware, so applicants must already have an ESP32 board and HX711 module for development and testing.
⸻
Responsibilities:
• Interface the HX711 with ESP32 and read values from a foil strain gauge
• Tare the scale automatically on power-up (no manual button required)
• Detect when the reading is stable within a small tolerance for 2 full seconds
• Once stable, capture that value and:
• Send it via BLE (compatible with both iOS and Android apps)
• Output it via Serial for logging/debugging
⸻
Requirements:
• Proficient with ESP32 programming (Arduino or PlatformIO)
• Experienced with HX711 load cell amplifier
• Able to implement a rolling average or simple stability check
• Able to configure BLE GATT service to transmit the final value
• You must own or have access to:
• ESP32 board
• HX711 module
• (Optional: strain gauge or load cell for testing)
⸻
Nice to Have:
• BLE characteristic that supports future commands (e.g. reset, calibration)
• Timeout logic if stability isn’t reached within X seconds
• Familiarity with BLE data parsing on mobile (Flutter, React Native, etc.)
⸻
Deliverables:
• Clean, well-commented .ino or PlatformIO firmware
• BLE-compatible transmission to mobile
• Serial output for debug
• Basic instructions for compiling and modifying calibration factor
⸻
To Apply:
Please include:
• A short description of your experience with ESP32, HX711, and BLE
• Confirmation that you own the required hardware
• Estimated delivery time
• (Optional) Link to past code or GitHub samples
⸻
Note:
We are open to hiring globally, but hardware must be self-supplied. We cannot ship boards or components.
