Development of a Remote Control System for Actuator and Servo Motor Management
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Objective:
The goal of this project is to design and program a remote control system consisting of a handheld remote with two buttons and one potentiometer, and a receiver unit with two DC motor controllers. The remote will control an actuator (for up/down movement) and a servo motor (for position control). The communication between the remote and the receiver will be facilitated by HC-05 Bluetooth modules.
Components:
Remote Unit:
Microcontroller: PIC16F18326
Bluetooth Module: HC-05
Inputs:
Two push buttons for controlling the actuator.
One potentiometer for controlling the servo motor position.
Receiver Unit:
Microcontroller: PIC16F26K80
Bluetooth Module: HC-05
Outputs:
DC motor pwm for the actuator.
Servo motor controller for the servo motor.
Functionality:
Remote Unit Operation:
The two buttons on the remote will send commands to the receiver unit to move the actuator up or down.
The potentiometer on the remote will send a position value to the receiver unit to control the servo motor's angle.
The PIC16F18326 microcontroller will read the button states and potentiometer value, and transmit these inputs via the HC-05 Bluetooth module.
Receiver Unit Operation:
The HC-05 Bluetooth module on the receiver unit will receive the commands from the remote.
The PIC16F26K80 microcontroller will interpret the received commands and control the DC motor controllers accordingly to move the actuator up or down.
The same microcontroller will also adjust the servo motor's position based on the potentiometer input received from the remote.
Programming:
Develop the firmware for the PIC16F18326 microcontroller to read inputs from the buttons and potentiometer, and transmit data via Bluetooth.
Develop the firmware for the PIC16F26K80 microcontroller to receive Bluetooth data, control the actuator's DC motors, and adjust the servo motor's position.
Implement communication protocols between the remote and receiver units using the HC-05 modules.
Expected Outcome:
A fully functional remote control system that allows for intuitive and precise control of an actuator's up/down movements and a servo motor's position using a simple handheld remote. The system will demonstrate reliable wireless communication and control, suitable for various applications requiring remote actuator and servo motor management.
