Design and Development of a Portable LoRaWAN-Based Household Energy and Water Monitoring Kit

Job ID: 40617672

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Project Summary
I require an experienced IoT/Embedded Systems engineer to design and build a portable LoRaWAN-enabled sensing kit for my PhD research. The system will be used to collect synchronized household energy, water, environmental, and occupancy data from multiple homes for AI model development.

The kit should include:
Energy monitoring (voltage, current, power, and energy consumption)
Water flow measurement
Temperature and humidity sensing
Occupancy detection (PIR or equivalent)
ESP32 (or similar) microcontroller with LoRaWAN communication
Portable enclosure with quick-connect terminals for easy installation and removal between households
LoRaWAN gateway integration
Data transmission to a cloud/database (PostgreSQL, InfluxDB, or similar)
Data export in CSV/API format for Python-based AI analysis
The emphasis is on reliable, synchronized, research-grade time-series data, not on developing AI models or a commercial smart home product.

Deliverables
Fully functional portable sensing kit
Firmware and source code
Wiring diagrams and documentation
Database setup and data export functionality
Calibration guide and testing report
