Build a Custom Tabletop Linear Slider for a 24-Hour Visual Timer

Job Description:

I need a custom-built tabletop linear slider that moves an object (such as a small figure) from one end to the other over a 24-hour period. This will serve as a visual representation of time for my autistic son.

Project Requirements:

Length: 6 feet (72 inches) total.

Movement Speed: The object should travel the full 6-foot length over exactly 24 hours, moving at a steady rate of 3 inches per hour (0.05 inches per minute).Drive Mechanism:

Can be a lead screw, timing belt, or linear actuator (open to other slow-speed solutions).

Needs smooth and quiet movement.

Motor & Control:

Should use a low-RPM motor or stepper motor with precise speed control.

Can be plug-in powered (preferred) or battery-powered.

Programmable controller (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or another timer-based system) to ensure precise 24-hour movement.
Structure:

Should be compact and stable to sit on a tabletop.

Can be made from metal, wood, or durable plastic.

The moving platform should be able to hold a small object (~LEGO figure size) securely.

User-Friendly:

Simple ON/OFF switch or automatic daily reset option.

If using programmable control, I should be able to adjust the speed slightly if needed.Ideal Freelancer:

Experience with mechanical engineering, automation, or robotics.

Skilled in linear motion systems and motor control.

Ability to source parts and assemble the device before shipping.

Deliverables:

Fully assembled tabletop linear slider, ready to use.

Instructions for setup and minor adjustments.

Source files & component list (if custom-built or programmed).Budget: Open to quotes, but please provide an estimated cost for materials and labor.
