Bottle Redemption Automation System Design
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Title:
Design & Program High-Speed Bottle Counting System (Sensor + Digital Counter)
Description:
I run a bottle redemption/recycling operation in New York and need help building a high-speed automated counting system for plastic bottles and cans.
The system will use a through-beam or laser photoelectric sensor to detect items passing through a chute and send signals to a counter/display unit.
---
Project Scope:
I need someone to:
1. Design a reliable counting system using:
- Through-beam or laser sensor (must detect clear plastic bottles)
- Counter/display unit (industrial or microcontroller-based)
2. Provide:
- a built out system with instructions , Sensor + Counter +
3. (Optional but preferred)
- Arduino or microcontroller code (if applicable)
- Recommendations for improving speed and accuracy
---
Key Requirements:
- Must handle high-speed flow (100+ items per minute)
- Must accurately detect clear and semi-transparent plastic bottles
- Must minimize double counts and missed counts
- System should be low cost and scalable
---
Nice to Have (Bonus):
- Experience with industrial sensors (PNP/NPN wiring)
- Experience with conveyor or object counting systems
- Ideas for optimizing chute design and flow control
---
Deliverables:
- Complete system design
- Wiring diagram
- Parts list with links
- Instructions for setup and testing
---
Budget:
Open to proposals (prefer cost-efficient solutions)
---
To Apply:
Please include:
- Relevant past work (automation, Arduino, sensors, etc.)
- Brief explanation of how you would approach this system
- Estimated timeline
---
Goal:
I want a simple, reliable, and fast counting system that can be implemented quickly and later scaled to multiple lanes. I will handle funnel system
---
