Arduino Stepper Motor Control Sketch

I'm seeking an experienced Arduino programmer to create a sketch for controlling stepper motors without any libraries. The three core functions required within the sketch include control for motor speed, direction, and position. Despite no specific constraints for the stepper motors' speed, direction, or position control, the ideal candidate would offer guidance in achieving optimal functionality out of these parameters.
Your expertise should allow for a clean, readable and maintainable code, as we intend to apply Clean Code Principles. Familiarity with stepper motors and Arduino hardware is a must.
I have writen 2 versions of the code already and need help further developing it.
