Arduino Origami Cube

Job ID: 36542410

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

For my project I want to have an origami cube that can fold or unfold with the use of a servo motor. Imagine you had a cube but wanted to shrink its height. The cube folds down vertically with the sides caving in on itself to fold to almost a flat square. I want a small servo motor to be on the inside of the cube. The servo motor will rotate the folds of the paper, which will cause the cube to either collapse or expand. Obviously the cube can't fold completely flat, as there is thickness to the servo motor. However if it can fold to at least 1/5 of its original height that will work. An arduino microcontroller will send the signals to the servo causing the cube to fold down to almost a square, or unfold to its original cube height.

Here is the type of origami cube that i want or similar to it. I want one that folds straight up and down and not in a spiral or twisting motion.

Again it will kinda fold like this except it’ll be one cube and won’t fold in a twisting motion.

Here is a video of origami robots that make the use of servo motors for motion. We only need to figure out the appropriate use of the servo to achieve the folding and unfolding of the cube.

Looking forward to whoever decides to work with me!
