Arduino Mega Shields + H-Bridge breakout board for Hexapod Robot
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
Job Summary: Design and Fabricate Two Arduino Mega Shield PCBs for Hexapod Robot
Overview:
Design, fabricate, assemble, and test two PCBs to modularize wiring for an 18-actuator hexapod robot. Replace point-to-point wiring with DB-19 connectors and a combined H-bridge board.
Deliverables:
Arduino Mega DB-19 Control Shield (6 units)
Passive shield routing Mega pins to 2× DB-19 connectors (one per leg pair)
Each DB-19: 6× PWM, 3× EN, 3× IS, 3× POT, VCC, GND, 2× spare
2× 3-pin serial headers for inter-MCU communication (TX/RX/GND, crossed cables)
Standard Mega shield footprint; keep unused pins accessible
Combined 3-Actuator H-Bridge PCB (12 units)
Integrate 3× BTS7960-class drivers per board
Connectors: 1× DB-19 (control), 3× 5-pin actuator, 1× 2-pin battery (Molex)
Support 8A/motor @ 12V, 3A/motor @ 24V
IS filtering/protection, bulk caps, thermal design for heatsink mounting
Requirements:
Complete schematic, PCB layout, Gerbers, BOM, assembly notes
Fully assembled, tested boards (continuity/pin-mapping for shields; load tests for H-bridges)
Test reports per board
Manufacturing docs committed to repo for future builds
Pre-build review before ordering
Pin mapping: See Appendix A in the milestone doc (Arduino D2–D13 PWM, D22–D27 EN, A0–A11 IS/POT, D16–D19 serial).
Payment: ~$1500-2500 + $400-700 fab cost to be paid by me. Will pay for up to 3x revisions on single EVT board(s), beyond that to be paid by contractor.
Timeline: TBD based on your availability.
