Rammed Earth Farm Barn Design
Budget: $50 – $0 AUD
I'm looking for a skilled architect or designer to create a unique farm barn structure using rammed earth. The barn will primarily serve as a residence but should be designed to resemble a traditional barn or shed.
Key Requirements:
- The design should incorporate modern rammed earth techniques while maintaining a rustic barn aesthetic.
- The barn should be functional as a residence with appropriate living spaces.
- Expertise in sustainable building practices and materials is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in designing farm structures or similar rural projects is a plus.
- Basically, I have a 13.5 x 6.5 concrete slab already down and I am keen to build a skillion based (barn style) shed/house with a Mezzanine floor at the front of the building. I do have a floor plan somewhere (but dont have the electronic copy on me) though I have a photo of the one that the plumber provided me i can attach.
- The building will be made using Rammed Earth materials and other than two mezzanine floors (two bedrooms) one over each high corner there is pretty much have a blank canvas to design.
- I have attached some design suggestions, basically outlining the current footprint.
- I am also looking for a barnlike entrance/Window/door on the second level of the mezzanine which are ideally placed on each corner but accessed from each room (proposed for the the middle of the building)
- Haven't decided yet if I will extend the final top of the roof or provide a smaller veranda on the first level.
- Other than a small wall separating the bottom bathroom and the kitchen (square) there will be no requirement for walls on the lower level.
- On the low side of the scallion roof I would like just one window (1 metre round window)
- Bathroom I am looking at installing glass blocks and the door to the outside of the building at this stage will be removed (though I am potentially looking at changing the position of the door to allow access to the toilet outlet from above) though this really wont effect overall design and can be completed onsite during the earth wall construction.
- I am leaning more towards the design outlined in skillion house one, though all entrances from the front with no windows or doors to the right of the building (facing the building)
