My 2,000 m² roadside plot on Kenya’s coast is ready for a fresh concept that blends classic Lamu charm with contemporary Swahili flourishes. The brief is clear: three self-contained apartments, each no smaller than 120 m², each with its own entrance and a private balcony or terrace that captures the ocean breeze.
I need a designer who already understands coastal Kenya’s construction realities—salty air, humid climate, high winds, availability of coral stone and mangrove poles, local bylaws, and the labour rhythms that come with building near the shoreline. Your solution should feel at home among neighbouring Swahili courtyards and white-washed walls, yet remain practical for modern living and holiday rentals.
Shared facilities are essential: a swimming pool, a landscaped garden area, and adequate off-road parking must be woven naturally into the site plan without overwhelming the serenity of the setting.
