Satellite Light Detection for Safety
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I need support using satellite imagery to pinpoint where my construction sites remain in the dark so I can address lighting gaps before they lead to accidents. The focus is strictly on active construction areas scattered across several regions, and medium-resolution imagery is sufficient so long as it can clearly reveal the presence or absence of artificial lighting after dusk.
Here is what I am expecting:
• Acquire recent, cloud-free, night-time imagery at medium resolution that covers all specified site coordinates.
• Process and analyse the data (remote-sensing techniques, change detection, radiance thresholds, GIS overlays—ArcGIS, QGIS or Google Earth Engine are all acceptable) to highlight zones where illumination is weak or missing.
• Deliver a georeferenced map layer and a short report summarising each site’s lighting status, including coordinates of the darkest hotspots so I can dispatch portable floodlights immediately.
The analysis should be repeatable because I will likely rerun it every few months, so please document your workflow or provide a simple script/notebook. Accuracy, clarity and a quick turnaround are more important to me than extreme image resolution.
