Land Use Map Digitization
Budget: ₹400 – ₹750 INR
I have a collection of physical land-use / land-cover maps that I need turned into clean, ready-to-use digital layers. The immediate goal is to scan, georeference, and carefully digitize every feature so that I receive an accurate, topology-clean shapefile (and geodatabase, if you prefer working in ArcGIS Pro) that mirrors the original symbology and attribute structure.
Here’s the workflow I envision:
1. High-resolution scanning of each physical sheet.
2. Georeferencing in ArcGIS or QGIS to the correct coordinate system (let me know which you plan to use).
3. Vector digitization of all classes with proper attribution—polygons should snap neatly with no gaps or overlaps.
4. Basic QA/QC check, then export to SHP; a GeoPackage or FileGDB export is welcome as an extra.
5. A small PDF map for quick visual validation.
Acceptance criteria
• Positional accuracy within a pixel width of the scanned image.
• Attribute table matches the legend exactly.
• Zero topology errors when validated in QGIS Topology Checker or ArcGIS Data Reviewer.
If you already work daily in ArcGIS or QGIS and have tackled land-use digitization before, this should be straightforward. Please tell me how many sheets you can handle per day and your typical QC process, and we can get started right away.
