Hospital Site Suitability Analysis – Mansoura, Egypt
This project presents a GIS-based site suitability analysis to identify the most suitable locations for establishing new hospitals in Mansoura City using ArcMap.
Methodology
A Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) approach was applied using raster-based spatial analysis. The following criteria were considered:
• Distance from existing hospitals (to improve service coverage)
• Proximity to road networks (to ensure accessibility)
• Land use suitability
• Urban boundary constraints
Each criterion was processed individually using:
• Buffer analysis
• Euclidean Distance
• Raster conversion
• Reclassification
Weighted Overlay
All criteria rasters were standardized to a common scale and combined using the Weighted Overlay tool based on their relative importance.
Results
The final suitability map classifies the study area into:
• High Suitability
• Low Suitability
The results help decision-makers identify optimal locations for future healthcare facilities based on spatial evidence.
