Eastern Nile SWAT+ Modeling

Job ID: 40591562

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

I’m building a full-basin SWAT+ setup for the Eastern Nile and want support completing the simulation and forecasting phase. The core of the assignment is to ingest and pre-process hydrological data—daily river flow, rainfall, temperature and PET—and integrate those inputs into a calibrated SWAT+ model that can reliably project runoff, streamflow and water balance under multiple climate and management scenarios.

What I already have
• 30-arc-second DEM, preliminary sub-basins and HRUs
• Raw gauge data from ENTRO, CHIRPS rainfall grids and NASA POWER climate series
• Land-use and soil shapefiles (pre-processed)

Where I need your expertise
• Fill gaps in the hydrological series, apply bias correction and trend checks
• Finalise watershed delineation and HRU definition in ArcSWAT+ or QSWAT+
• Configure weather generator, reservoirs and routing reaches accurately
• Run multi-year simulations, then generate flow duration curves and seasonal forecasts out to 2050 under selected CMIP6 ensembles
• Document every step so the model can be reproduced and audited

Deliverables
1. Calibrated and validated SWAT+ project folder for the full Eastern Nile domain
2. Technical memo (≈10 pages) detailing data sources, preprocessing, calibration statistics (NSE, PBIAS, R²) and scenario assumptions
3. Spreadsheet of cleaned hydrological input series and Python/R scripts used in preprocessing
4. Set of forecast maps and hydrographs (PNG/GeoTIFF) summarising baseline and future flows

Acceptance criteria
• Daily NSE ≥ 0.65 at the four primary gauges during validation period
• Forecast outputs run without unresolved errors or warnings in SWAT+
• All scripts execute on Windows 10 with open-source libraries only

If you’ve previously delivered basin-scale SWAT+ studies and can turn around clear, documented results, I’m ready to share the data package and move ahead quickly.
