DWG to Shapefile & KML Conversion
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have an AutoCAD 18 DWG that contains a complete FTTH OSP design. I need it converted into two deliverables—an ESRI-compatible shapefile set and a Google Earth KML—while keeping every network element intact.
The key features that must appear as separate, accurately georeferenced layers are:
• Fiber routes (lines)
• Splice points (points)
• Customer locations (points)
• Handholds, pull boxes, and any other symbols or annotation present in the drawing
All attributes in the DWG (layer names, text labels, block data) should carry over so the resulting shapefile opens cleanly in ArcGIS/QGIS and the KML displays correctly in Google Earth. Please preserve the original coordinate system; if one is not defined, let me know and we can decide on the correct projection, most likely WGS-84.
I’m looking for someone who has already handled similar CAD-to-GIS conversions for telecom or utility projects and can show proven experience doing so with tools such as AutoCAD Map 3D, Civil 3D, FME, Global Mapper, or the equivalent. Accuracy, layer integrity, and quick turnaround matter more to me than fancy visuals.
When you reply, briefly outline relevant conversions you’ve completed and your expected timeline for delivering both the .shp set and the .kml.
