Citywide Flood Risk Assessment Using Historical Data
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I need a complete flood-risk zoning model for a single city, concentrating only on river flooding. I can supply you with several decades of historical flood records together with the hydrological series (stage, discharge and rainfall) that fed those events. What I do not yet have—and may need you to source or recommend—is the most suitable terrain surface for hydraulic computations.
Here is what I am looking for:
• Build and calibrate a hydraulic / hydrologic model (HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, or any tool you prefer) using the historical and hydrological datasets I will share.
• Simulate at least the 10-, 50- and 100-year return periods, generating depth, velocity and extent rasters.
• Translate those outputs into GIS-ready flood-risk zones (low / medium / high) that planning staff can load directly in QGIS or ArcGIS.
• Compile a concise technical report: methodology, calibration results, assumptions, maps, and a short list of recommended risk-reduction measures for city engineers.
• Deliver the native model files so the municipality can rerun scenarios internally.
