English Literary Translation to Four Languages

Job ID: 40381850

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

I have a collection of English short stories and narrative essays that need to live and breathe just as vividly in Malay, Japanese, Arabic, and Turkish. These are text documents only—no websites or software strings—yet they rely on nuance, rhythm, and the subtle beats of good storytelling.

What I’m looking for
• A native-level command of at least one of the target languages.
• Proven experience translating literature or creative writing, not just technical or legal copy.
• Sensitivity to tone so the translated version carries the same emotion, pacing, and imagery as the original.

Scope & workflow
1. I will send the first batch (about 5,000 English words) in Word format.
2. You return a fully translated document preserving paragraph breaks, italics, and any line spacing that affects narrative flow.
3. We review together, fine-tune metaphors or cultural references, then proceed to the next batch.

Acceptance criteria
• Natural, reader-friendly narrative that never feels like a literal, machine-style conversion.
• Characters, plot points, and literary devices stay intact.
• No loss of context; cultural adaptations made where a direct translation would confuse or dull the impact.

If you are confident you can let these stories sing in your language—while respecting the author’s original voice—let’s talk.
