Google log in help

Hi- I just bought a second hand MacBook Pro 2012 but for some strange annoying reason, I keep getting an error message when I try to log into Google or YouTube on Safari, something I always did on my other old MacBook Pro. Now if I download Chrome I can log into google and YouTube with my Google id. By the way, the laptop gets hot on mains.can anyone help me out?
