Freelance Assistant Property Manager (AppFolio Expert)
Chicago-based | Remote OK (U.S. only) | Contract Position
We’re seeking a freelance or temporary Assistant Property Manager with strong AppFolio experience to support our property management team during a staffing transition. This is a flexible, contract role ideal for someone who can hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily use of AppFolio to monitor delinquencies, input lease documents, and track lease/move-in/move-out dates
Respond to tenant inquiries and coordinate maintenance through AppFolio
Generate owner reports, track expenses/payables, and assist with financial reporting
Support inspections, vendor coordination, and tenant communications
Communicate clearly and professionally with tenants and vendors across multiple properties
Requirements:
Proven proficiency in AppFolio (minimum 1 year hands-on use in a property management setting)
Native English speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with Chicago-area leasing and CHA inspections a plus
Highly organized, dependable, and capable of working independently with minimal onboarding
Position Details:
Remote (U.S.-based candidates only)
Contract position: 20–40 hours/week depending on workload
Initial term: 2–3 months, with potential to extend
