create an API for an app

so basically i have a holographic fan. this fan has an app already its name is "3D Displayer" on app store and on play store. from the app i can choose which picture or video to display but i cannot input a text for example and the image changes. i want to create an API which communicates with the fan and changes the displayed image according to the given input
