SMS API Account Setup & Verification

I run a small U.S.-based startup as a sole proprietor and need to start sending texts to American customers. I have not committed to a provider yet—Twilio, Nexmo, Plivo, or any other reliable platform is fine with me—so the first step is to evaluate which service best fits a lean budget and straightforward transactional messaging.
Once the platform is chosen, I want you to walk me through opening the account and completing every compliance step, including phone-number or brand verification (A2P 10DLC, if required). I do not need full code integration right now; my immediate goal is to have a live, tested sender number that can deliver SMS to U.S. handsets without issues.
Deliverables
• Brief comparison of at least two viable SMS providers with pros, cons, and pricing highlights
• Successfully created account on the chosen platform under my business name
• Verified sender number capable of sending test messages to U.S. numbers
• A concise, step-by-step hand-off document so I can manage the dashboard and API keys myself
