Real-Time Web & API Technical Product Owner
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
Technical Product Owner (Backend-savvy, No Coding) — Real-Time Web & APIs
Goal: Own the tech conversations and delivery: translate vision → specs, align developer + architect, make backend decisions fast, and hold acceptance criteria. No implementation work.
What you’ll do (ownership, not coding)
Specs & Backlog: Write PRD-lite stories with clear acceptance (latency, bundle, a11y, security).
Architecture Decisions: Evaluate options (API shape, auth model, data schema, caching, queues, rate limits, idempotency) and document Decision Records.
Milestones & QA gates: Define phases with pass/fail checks; verify with metrics (p50/p95 latency, error rates).
Vendor/Candidate Flow: Shortlist, interview, set small paid tests, recommend hires.
Risk & Compliance: Call out PII handling, logging redaction, key rotation, least-privilege.
Stakeholder comms: Weekly one-pager: shipped / next / risks / asks.
You should know (conceptually)
APIs & Realtime: REST/GraphQL, WebSockets; OAuth2/API keys; retries/backoff; idempotent writes.
Data & Caching: PostgreSQL schema/indexing, migrations; Redis for cache/queues; pagination (cursor).
Infra basics: Docker/CI/CD, staging vs prod, health checks, observability (metrics + logs).
Performance targets: API p50 ≤ 200 ms, realtime fan-out ≤ 500 ms (staging), error rate < 1%.
Security hygiene: secrets management, audit trails, minimum scopes.
Nice-to-have: Supabase, serverless edge (Vercel/Cloudflare), ASR/TTS loop basics, R3F/Three.js constraints.
Acceptance (for your role)
PRD-lite for each item (user story, acceptance, constraints, edge cases).
Decision Records (1–2 per week) with rationale & impact.
Milestone plan with measurable gates; weekly update sent.
Hiring support: shortlist + interview notes + a 2–4h paid test brief per role.
Quality gate audit: verify metrics & logs meet acceptance before sign-off.
