Python Bot for Wiki Redirects
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I run a private MediaWiki-based knowledge base and many of its infobox-style links now point to pages that have since become redirects. I want a Python script that:
• Crawls every page, detects when a wikilink resolves to a redirect, and fetches the true target.
• Edits the source page so the link goes straight to that target, bypassing the redirect.
•
Key points
– Language: Python only.
– Detection strategy: check each page at pre-determined times via a chronjob
– Access: the script will run under an admin account so it can make the necessary edits
Deliverables
1. Well-commented Python script (PEP 8 compliant).
A mid-sized scope is fine: I don’t need a fancy dashboard, just reliable automated edits and clear logs I can review afterward.
