Prototype of web platform. API: Linking excel database with interface

Job ID: 38619308

Budget: €8 – €50 EUR

Hello
I’m Elena and I work for a consulting company that needs an application to simplify and automate the planning process for new client projects. I'm responsible for delivering a prototype of this application, which, once developed, could receive further funding to become a key tool in providing solutions to our clients.
We need someone who can program an API that links our current excel database (algorithm based on several equations, formulas and assumptions) with an interface ( ex: figma…)
The goal is to create a simple, yet professional interface that allows project managers to input various parameters related to the client's and project's characteristics, and generate detailed reports and data, including:
- Estimated time for project completion
- Budget breakdown (fixed costs, variable costs, etc.)
- Consultant requirements (e.g., Senior IT Consultant, Strategic Consultant, etc.)
- Profitability analysis of the project
The primary objective is to streamline the planning process, ensuring accurate budgeting and time management, assisting in resource allocation, and providing quick, reliable insights into the project’s profitability.

We already managed to create a formula that already calculates the outputs besides checking for consultants availability.
The algorithm for:
Budget breakdown
Number of consultants
Profitability analysis
Estimated time and work days
Estimated cost
Type of consultants
Profit/loss
is already done in excel.
We need:
consultants availability check, based on our dataset
programming of the API between excel and the interface
Reporting & Exporting in pdf and excel

Key Features of the Interface:
- Input Module: Project managers will input essential parameters such as client name, project scope, industry, desired timeframe, budget, IT requirements (e.g., rated 1 to 5), and more.
- Budget Calculation: The app will categorize the budget into fixed costs (e.g., equipment) and variable costs (e.g., consultant rates)
- Consultant Requirements: Based on the provided parameters, the system will generate a list of necessary consultants and resources (e.g., Senior IT Consultant, Junior Strategic Consultant).
- Profitability Calculation: An integrated formula will calculate project profitability, considering costs, resource allocation, and expected revenue.
- Reporting & Exporting: The user should be able to generate detailed reports in PDF, Excel, or Word formats, covering cost breakdowns, time estimations, consultant allocations, and profitability calculations.

Technical Specifications:
- The platform should be desktop-based, primarily for Windows (preferably also macOS).
- The algorithm should generate different outcomes based on the level of input parameters (e.g., IT requirement, strategic requirement, finance requirement, etc., rated from 1 to 5). For example, if a higher IT requirement is indicated, the algorithm should suggest more IT consultants.
- The algorithm should connect to a database storing company information and historical data from previous projects, categorized by project type.
- The user interface should be clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate while maintaining a professional appearance.

Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking an experienced developer or team with the following qualifications:
- Experience in developing desktop applications.
- Ability of create API
- Familiarity with financial modeling and cost estimation tools (preferred).
- Knowledge or experience in the consulting industry (a plus).
- Ability to deliver a polished, user-friendly product.
- Strong communication skills and responsiveness to feedback.
- We expect someone open to discussing features in detail and providing regular updates throughout the development phase.

Budget:
For this prototype, the company has allocated a budget of €50.

Deadlines:
The project must be fully completed by October 7th, 2023, at 23:59. A clear timeline should be established to monitor progress and allow us to provide you with any additional information as needed. The proposed schedule is as follows:
- Availability for additional information: Every day until September 30th, 2024.
- First draft: To be submitted by September 30th, 2024.
- Feedback and continuation: If the first draft is approved, work should continue towards the second draft.
- Second draft: To be submitted by October 3rd, 2024.
- Final project: To be completed and delivered by October 7th, 2024.

In the attached image, you will find a very basic concept of the initial section of the platform. This represents the first interface, which project managers will use to input key information about the project. From this initial input, the algorithm should generate the subsequent section with detailed results. These results must ensure accurate budgeting and time management, support effective resource allocation, and provide quick, reliable insights into the project’s profitability.
