WordPress Travel API Integration & Workflow Setup
Budget: €1,000 – €2,000 EUR
WordPress Travel Catalog Integration (RateHawk + Hotelbeds) with Auto Translation & Lead Sync
We are not looking for a visual page-builder setup only — we are specifically looking for an integration-focused developer who can build a reliable multilingual supplier-fed travel catalog with inquiry workflow.
Project Description
We are looking for an experienced WordPress developer / API integration specialist to build the backend integration layer for a multilingual travel website.
This is not a full online booking/payment project.
The website will display travel products pulled from external suppliers and allow users to submit an inquiry/request form for a selected item. The agency team will then receive the exact selected item details by email and/or CRM and continue the process offline.
We need a freelancer who can design and implement a stable, scalable, and maintainable architecture for supplier-fed travel content in WordPress.
Main Goal
Build a system that:
pulls data from external suppliers
structures/maps that data properly in WordPress
displays it in a clean catalog/listing/detail format
supports multilingual content (Greek main language, English + Turkish secondary languages)
automatically handles translations where appropriate
sends the selected item information into email / CRM when a visitor submits an inquiry
Suppliers / Integrations Required
We need implementation review and integration for these 2 sources:
RateHawk
Hotelbeds
Important:
The goal is to pull, catalog, and display data
The goal is not to complete booking/payment inside the website
Users will choose an item and submit an inquiry form
The freelancer must review and confirm:
available API / feed method for each supplier
authentication requirements
rate limits
caching/update strategy
legal/content usage restrictions
image/content availability
best sync approach for each supplier
Preferred Architecture
Our current preferred direction is:
WordPress
custom integration plugin / middleware
WPML for multilingual setup and automatic translation
scheduled background sync jobs
clean CPT / custom fields architecture
email / CRM lead routing
We are open to alternatives only if clearly justified.
If you propose Laravel / headless / custom app instead of WordPress, explain:
why WordPress is not suitable
what technical problem it solves better
how non-technical staff will manage content/admin tasks
Functional Scope
1) Supplier Data Import / Sync
The system must support:
initial import
recurring sync
incremental updates
new item creation
existing item updates
archiving/unpublishing removed items
logging of sync actions and failures
Please explain:
how often sync should run
whether you will use cron / queue / background jobs
how you will handle API failures or partial sync failures
how you will handle duplicate or conflicting records
2) Canonical Language Logic
Greek will be the main/canonical source language in WordPress.
Expected workflow:
supplier data creates/updates the main Greek item
English and Turkish versions are generated from the Greek record
updates to the main item propagate correctly to translations
3) Automatic Translation Workflow
We need a reliable multilingual workflow.
Please explain how you would handle:
automatic creation of EN and TR versions
automatic translation when new items are added
automatic update of translations when the original content changes
draft/publish rules
review rules for incomplete or low-quality translations
We expect clear field rules such as:
Translate
title
summary
description
itinerary/content text
visible labels
Copy
supplier ID
source
price
currency
dates
image IDs
availability flags
codes/reference IDs
source URL
4) Inquiry / Lead Workflow
When a visitor opens a specific item and submits an inquiry form, the agency must receive:
selected item title/name
source/supplier
item reference/code
selected dates if relevant
displayed price if relevant
visitor name
phone
email
message/notes
This should be sent to:
email
and optionally CRM / lead system
Please explain:
how you will store the inquiry
how you will preserve the selected product context
how you will prevent losing context if supplier data later changes
5) Catalog / Listing Structure
The backend structure must support listings and filtering such as:
destination
category/type
duration
budget/price range
travel/service type
source/provider
seasonal/promotional grouping if needed
6) Status / Change Handling
We need clear handling for cases like:
supplier changes price
supplier updates descriptions/images
supplier removes or disables an item
supplier temporarily returns no data
translation job fails
sync fails midway
Please explain:
your archive/unpublish strategy
retry logic
logging/monitoring approach
rollback or recovery strategy
Technical Deliverables Required
Please include all of the following in your offer:
Recommended architecture
Recommended platform
Recommended hosting environment
Recommended plugin/library stack
Integration plan for RateHawk
Integration plan for Hotelbeds
Sync/update/archive logic
Multilingual/translation workflow
Inquiry → email / CRM mapping logic
Estimated timeline
Fixed price or milestone-based price
Clear exclusions
Post-launch maintenance/support proposal
Hosting
Please recommend the best hosting setup for this kind of project.
We expect something like:
managed cloud/VPS
cron support
staging environment
solid backup policy
scalable resources
Please explain:
what provider you recommend
what minimum server specs are needed
how you would handle staging vs production
whether Redis/object cache is recommended
what cron/queue setup you would use
Required Experience
Please apply only if you have experience with at least one of the following:
WordPress API integrations
supplier-fed catalogs
travel/hotel/tour integrations
WPML multilingual implementations
scheduled import/sync systems
custom plugin development in WordPress
In Your Proposal, Please Answer These Questions
Would you use WordPress for this project, or another platform? Why?
How would you integrate RateHawk?
How would you integrate Hotelbeds?
How would you structure the sync logic for create/update/archive?
How would you implement the Greek / English / Turkish workflow?
How would you ensure translated versions stay in sync when the original changes?
What would you use for background jobs / queues / cron?
What hosting would you recommend and why?
What is your estimated timeline?
What is your fixed price for this integration scope only?
What annual maintenance/support cost would you recommend?
What risks or unknowns do you see before development begins?
Important Notes
This project is not for checkout/payment inside the website
We need catalog + item page + inquiry flow
We need a stable and scalable integration, not a quick workaround
We need someone who can think architecturally, not only visually
Preferred Pricing Format From Freelancers
Please provide your quote in 3 sections:
