I’m building a WordPress-based portal that delivers professional, formal stock-market news alongside reliable market data, so visitors no longer have to jump between multiple sites for information.
Core scope
• WordPress will power the CMS. I already have hosting and can install WordPress myself if you prefer to start with a clean instance.
• A stock-market API must be integrated to pull daily updates for both NIFTY and SENSEX, plus individual equity data that feeds:
– a concise market-overview bar
– tables for top gainers & losers
– dedicated pages for each listed company showing price, change, volume, etc.
• I’ll post the news articles myself; I just need an article template styled for a formal, professional tone and an easy workflow for categorising pieces (e.g., Markets, Sector Watch, IPOs).
What I need from you
1. Recommend and connect a reliable API (free tier or paid—open to suggestions) that supports Indian exchanges and offers end-of-day data.
2. Build or configure the necessary custom post types / taxonomies so that “News” and “Stock” content stay separate yet can reference each other.
3. Set up the home-page layout: headline news region + live widgets or shortcodes that surface the latest prices, an index chart, and the gainers/losers table.
4. Create reusable blocks/shortcodes so I can drop live price snippets anywhere in an article.
5. Optimise for fast loading, keeping external calls to a minimum. Basic security and on-page SEO plugins are already installed; feel free to advise on any better alternatives.
Acceptance criteria
• NIFTY and SENSEX figures refresh automatically once per day without manual action.
• All ticker pages display correct company data when a symbol is entered.
• No API keys are hard-coded—use wp-config or an options page.
• Site works on desktop and mobile with Core Web Vitals in the green.
