Build Python eBay Price Tracker + GPT Integration for Smart Product Comparison (No Chat UI)
Project Description:
I’m looking for a skilled Python developer to build an application that tracks eBay listings for specific products, compares prices to calculated market averages, and identifies listings that are significantly underpriced.
In addition, the system should leverage ChatGPT (OpenAI API) in the backend not for user interaction, but for:
• Standardizing and matching product names (e.g., handling inconsistent or vague listing titles)
• Comparing similar listings across platforms
• Improving accuracy in identifying deals
The end goal is a system that quietly runs in the background, evaluates listings intelligently, and flags high-value opportunities for users or for further automation.
Requirements:
1. eBay Integration
• Use eBay Finding or Browse API to fetch live listings
• Filter by keyword, condition, price, etc.
2. Price Analysis Engine
• Calculate average, median, and historical trends
• Identify listings under a defined threshold (e.g. 20% below average)
3. GPT Integration (No Chat UI)
• Use OpenAI’s GPT API to:
o Normalize product titles
o Compare listing descriptions to standard product templates
o Identify similar items even if described differently
4. Notification System (Optional)
• Email or SMS alerts for selected deals (SendGrid, Twilio, etc.)
5. (Optional but Nice to Have)
• Small dashboard or simple REST API for triggering scans and checking results
Preferred Tech Stack:
• Python 3.x
• eBay API
• OpenAI API (GPT-4)
• Flask or FastAPI (optional REST interface)
• SQLite / MongoDB
• Optional: SendGrid, Twilio, Firebase
Deliverables:
• Fully working script or app with clear instructions
• GPT-enabled product matching and comparison logic
• Sample input/output with pricing logic
• Optional: hosted endpoint or local interface
