Multi-Bank Budgeting Platform

Job ID: 40548569

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I need a secure budgeting application that can pull transactions automatically from both retail and investment banks, place each line item into the right budget category, and keep every category’s spend-to-allocation ratio visible at a glance. The heart of the system is percentage-based tracking: every category shows its current spend as a % of the amount I’ve assigned for the month, quarter, or year.

Key workflow
1. The user links a bank account (Open Banking, Plaid, Yodlee, or a comparable aggregator).
2. New transactions flow into the platform on a schedule we define (daily is fine to start).
3. The data is written immediately to an Excel file that mirrors my existing budget template—same columns, same formulas—so nothing breaks for longtime spreadsheet users.

On top of that core flow, I also need:
• Budget analysis reports that summarise trends, category overruns, and long-term savings progress.
• Multi-user access so more than one household member (or an advisor) can log in with separate credentials and view/adjust the same budget.
• Native import for both desktop apps (Windows and macOS) and mobile apps (iOS and Android). A web portal is optional later, but not required right now.

Deliverables
• A working desktop client and companion mobile app that authenticate, fetch, categorise, and export transactions as described.
• Source code (preferably in a mainstream stack such as React Native + Electron + Node, but I’m open to your recommendation).
• Clear documentation covering environment setup, API keys, and how to map additional banks or budget categories in the future.
• A short test plan that proves multi-user log-in, percentage tracking accuracy, and Excel export integrity.

Acceptance criteria
• Connection to at least one live retail bank and one live investment bank.
• Every imported transaction appears in the Excel file within five minutes of syncing.
• Category percentages are calculated correctly against the budgeted figures supplied in the template.
• Separate user accounts can view the same data without overwriting one another’s settings.

If you have experience integrating open banking APIs and exporting structured data to Excel, this should be a straightforward build. I’m ready to supply the spreadsheet template, sample bank statements, and access to test accounts as soon as we get started.
