Metasearch Engine Platform

Opportunity to develop a cutting-edge metasearch engine platform, similar to Trivago or Skyscanner, but serving a different industry (industry details will be disclosed to qualified bidders). Looking for a full stack developer (front and back end) that can understand business requirements and then develop a technical framework and execute into a live serviceable product - initial buildout will focus on a prototype or DEMO.


Project Overview:

Build a metasearch engine platform that focuses on price comparisons of multiple websites utilizing their existing external partner developer APIs and some web scraping. The platform's main landing page must be visually striking and captivating, capturing the essence of the industry it serves. Additionally, the platform will include a few interchangeable subset pages that cater to users' specific search criteria (price and feature comparison pages). Similar to the travel platforms mentioned above, the site will show the aggregated results with filter options through API integration (main focus) and some web scraping (secondary focus). The website domain has already been purchased, and the site will be integrated onto this domain.


Key Responsibilities:

- Develop a visually appealing and user-friendly main landing page that creates a strong first impression for users.
- Implement a robust metasearch engine that efficiently collects and compares data from multiple partner websites and APIs.
- Design and develop interchangeable subset pages that adapt to users' search criteria and provide relevant information.
- Ensure seamless navigation and usability across different devices and browsers.
- Optimize the platform for speed, performance, and scalability deploying it to AWS or Google Cloud or similar to host the service.
- Ensure a simple external user-friendly platform is achieved.
- Ability to collect and drive data insights internally.


Requirements:

- Proven experience in web development, particularly in building metasearch engine platforms or similar complex projects.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant front-end frameworks.
- Strong back-end development skills with knowledge of server-side technologies and databases.
- Familiarity with API integration, web scraping, and data aggregation techniques.
- Affiliate API Keys source and management.
- Feature to redirect customers to suppliers site for purchase (integrate and track commissioned links).
- AJAX feature similar to Trivago.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the project's technical aspects.

Expecting the end goal to be a site prototype which can integrate with API data, hosted on a cloud service, and accessible to the public. Opportunity for full-time or additional work beyond initial scope - building, scaling, maintaining the site.
