Full-Stack Developer — Backend Integration for Professional Networking Web App (Supabase + Netlify)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
We've built a fully-designed, fully-functional front-end for a professional networking and career-development web app — think a premium, ad-free professional community with AI-powered career tools, structured messaging, and skill-based cohorts. The entire UI/UX is complete: a single HTML/CSS/JS file (~780KB) with 12 distinct sections (profile, networking, community, career prep, AI tools, messaging, and more), already deployed on Netlify and connected to GitHub for auto-deploy.
What's missing is the backend. Right now everything is cosmetic — signup, login, profiles, and messages all reset on page reload because there's no database or authentication behind them. We need a developer to wire the existing front-end to a real backend so it becomes a fully functional product.
This is an ongoing, hourly engagement, starting with a defined first phase (~80-90 hours) and continuing into lighter ongoing maintenance afterward. We're looking to get the first phase done in 3-4 weeks.
WHAT YOU'LL BE BUILDING
Real user authentication (signup, login, sessions) using Supabase Auth, including mobile OTP verification (Twilio or Supabase Phone Auth)
Database schema design in Supabase/PostgreSQL — users, profiles, messages, cohort posts, feedback, subscriptions
Profile persistence — save/load profile data, public shareable profile URLs
A messaging system with 8 distinct message categories, inbox/sent views, stored and retrievable
A serverless proxy function (Netlify Functions, Node.js) to securely route AI tool calls to the Anthropic API — keeping the API key server-side, with basic rate limiting
Cohort posting — members can post to their cohort feed, with light moderation
A content publishing flow (submit → approve → publish) for a curated insights/perspectives section
Premium feature gating tied to subscription status
Payment integration via Razorpay (subscriptions + one-time purchases)
Row-level security in Supabase so users can only read/write their own data
End-to-end testing across devices

IDEAL CANDIDATE
Strong hands-on experience with Supabase (or comparable BaaS — Firebase experience also considered)
Comfortable working within an existing vanilla JS/HTML codebase without needing to migrate it to a framework
Experience with payment gateway integration (Razorpay preferred, Stripe acceptable)
Has built authentication flows end-to-end before — not just followed a tutorial
Can work independently once given clear specs, and communicates proactively if something is ambiguous
Based in or comfortable with IST working hours for reasonably overlapping availability
